Before you know the ways that will boost your metabolism, it is very important and helpful to know the definition of metabolism. Metabolism is a biochemical process which converts your food and drink into energy or calories. Those calories are combined with oxygen in order to provide your body with energy needs to function well. This energy is not only needed when you are awake, but also when you at rest. There are still some "hidden functions" also need energy while resting, such as breathing, cells which grow and repaired, blood circulation, etc.
Don't forget your breakfast:
The morning meal is very important to increase your metabolic rate. Just depending on your daily cup of coffee will not help you much. You may suppress your appetite and get some energy and calories by drinking your coffee, but after some time you will feel starving which may push you to overeating later. Your breakfast components are very important. It should include low-fat foods, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Break your meals:
It will be so good if you get involved in the habit of eating every three or four hours. Breaking your big basic meals into smaller ones will help you a lot. It will stable your blood sugar, control your appetite, and increase your metabolism. Leaving your body for a lot of time without eating will lead to two things, first, lowering your energy level which you body need, and this will affect your overall body and health. Second, if you starve yourself your body will compensate and you will be obliged to overeat.
Keep eating proteins every meal:
What protein does is decreasing your appetite. It will take more time and energy to be digested. The reflection which will happen on you is giving you a full feel for longer time, which means no more eating. It scientifically proved that you can lose weight without cutting calories, if you eat more proteins.
Reduce eating snacks:
Snacks are rich in calories, so you need to lower your snacks eating. When you feel tired, go for 10-15 minute slow-pace walk instead of hurrying for those high-calories snacks.
Eat enough, satisfy your body needs
Starving yourself will slow down your metabolic rate. You can instead exclude some of your diet extras such as candy, soda etc. In general packed foods are high in calories and fat, low in fiber, vitamins and minerals. So do not starve your self or overeat, just moderate your eating.
